KyoXTohru Strangest Years of Our Lives Ch. 14

He got up the next morning, showered, and stared at his scar as he stood in front of the mirror. His scar. The one thing that scared him the most. He touched it and started to snarl under his breath. “You’re a weakling, Kaname.” he nearly snapped, “You’ll never amount to anything now!”

“Kaname is that you?” his mother called out. He told her he was alright and got dressed, going downstairs and ate breakfast with his family. His father noticed something was off with his son and he shook his head.

“Kaname, would you like to try and do some martial arts with me today?”

“Really?!” he gasped and smiled brightly. “You mean we can spar like we used to?!"

Kyo smiled and nodded, “Sure thing. I think you’re fit enough to do it.”

“Just be careful, OK?” Tohru put in, “I don’t want you getting hurt.” Her husband assured her that they’d be alright and not get into any problems or troubles. She still seemed worried but let it go and went back to cleaning up breakfast along with Kyoko.

They started with a few simple exercises but after a while, Kaname started to pant and hold his chest. Kyo decided it’d be a good idea to stop there and had him sit down. Kaname cursed under his breath but let it be soft enough his parents couldn’t hear. He got up and ran off to the forest once his parents weren’t looking.  But somehow, Tohru expected this and called someone to calm him down.

Kaname snarled and kicked up dirt. “Weak! Stupid! You aren’t the man you used to be!” He started to punch at a tree trunk and shook once his hands started to bleed.

“Kaname!” Suki gasped and ran to him, putting her hand on his. “What on earth do you think you’re doing?!”

He blinked in shock, “But…. How’d you find me?” he asked, confused.

“Your mom called me.”

“Oh…” he sighed, “Oh course…” He held her close and looked down at her sadly. “I’m sorry Suki, I wasn’t thinking.”

She cried a bit and shook, “Don’t… don’t ever do that again!”

He kissed her head, “I won’t, I promise.”

After a while of calming his fiancé down he held her closer and rocked her. “Suki, we need a vacation.” he smiled. “How about once we hit the next break in our school, we go off to the beach or something!”

Suki thought about this a moment then smiled. “Yes, I’d like that.”

He kissed her and she returned the gesture. “Besides with everything going on lately, I need to clear my head.” he chuckled. But inside he wasn’t laughing. He was so angry with himself, but he daren’t let his beloved find that out. He nuzzled her cheek, “Suki, let’s go back to my house.” he smiled a little sadly. She nodded and snuggled up close when they started walking down the path headed to his place.

“Kaname what happened to your hands?!” his mother cried out when she saw him. Kyo blinked in shock.

“I got mad and punched a tree…” he admitted in shame.

“But why?!” she had tears welling up in her eyes, getting a first aid kit.

“Mom I don’t need it really.” he shook his head.

Suki kissed his cheek, “We care dear and we’re going to take care of it. He was about to argue when he finally gave in when she gave him the ‘listen to me now’ frown. She giggled, “Good!” and his mother started to treat his hands. Once she was done, Suki mentioned to his parents that it would be a good idea to go on vacation sometime soon.

Kyo looked at his son. “Maybe it’s time… you two go out on your vacation without us parents there to chaperone you. You’re old enough now and I trust you.” His mother giggled and nodded, agreeing with what her husband had just said.

Both Suki and Kaname stared at him in shock. Was he really going to allow this? Then Kaname gulped a bit. Was Suki’s father ever going to say yes?

“Thank you, you two!” Suki’s eyes sparkled, “I’ll get daddy to agree to this, don’t worry.” she winked to her fiancé, as if knowing what he was thinking. “And I’ll let him say that to you, not to me. It’s more important to you.” She stayed for a while before heading home, leaving a few swept away Kaname in her wake.

“Yuki is going to kill me! There’s no way in hell he’s going to agree that she come with me, alone, to have a vacation!” he shook. His father was also shaking in fear.

“He’s going to kill me for even suggesting it.” he gulped a bit.

Tohru giggled, “I’m sure he’s not going to like it, but, he can’t say no to his daughter!” They weren’t that reassured by her words, but, it did give a small seedling of comfort.

Kaname blushed when his father said, “As long as you don’t do something that intimate with her, I’m sure he won’t mind.”

“I’m not going to do anything like that until we’re married.” he frowned. His father laughed, as well did his mother.

“We know, go get packed and get ready to eat.” his mother smiled, “Kaname, I love you.”

“I love you too.” he smiled back then went upstairs.

“I’m going to cry.” Tohru had tears in her eyes, “He’s so big already, it seems like only yesterday he was a newborn baby…”

Kyo hugged his wife and rocked her. “Shh, I know. I feel the same but, he can’t live with us forever.”

Kaname grinned a while he was packing. “Soon enough, it’ll be the day of our wedding. The beginning of our lives! I can’t wait until this trip!”
